Write In Watson- It’s What’s Right!

I am Jessica Watson and I am asking for your write in vote for Superior Court Judge this March!

I am originally from Oakland, California. I first fell in love with Humboldt County in 2003 when I attended what was then Humboldt State University. It was during my four years at Humboldt State that I was accepted as an intern at the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office. This unique opportunity inspired my love of the law and sparked my desire to attend law school. It was my intention to return to Humboldt County once I completed law school, and I did. When I graduated from the University of San Francisco, School of Law, I moved back to Humboldt County to begin my legal career. I worked as a criminal defense attorney for two years, assuring that the rights of my clients were vigorously protected. Since 2014, I have proudly served our community as a Deputy District Attorney. I have not only made sure that all of the rights of those who are in court are protected, defendant and victim alike, I also ensure that community safety is a priority.

If elected, I guarantee that you will be heard in my courtroom. I will act with integrity, ensuring a fair and unbiased hearing. I will be reasonable, level headed, even tempered, and not be reactive to my own emotion. My legal career has been centered around justice, and my practice has always been driven by integrity and fidelity to the law, policy, and justice. If elected, I will ensure that those who are marginalized in our community have a voice and agency. as I am committed to making a positive difference in our community by serving with a sense of justice and compassion.

As one of the only African American attorneys in Humboldt County, I am adept at interacting with diverse communities and have a deep seated cultural competence in how identity impacts our experiences in the community and broader society. I am keenly aware of the importance of conducting myself to ensure that the integrity of the position is maintained.
